This basket is woven of the butterscotch wicker over dark brown spokes.  You can see the contrasting spokes in the picture and they do show up in the bottom center.  You can just see the center peeking out here over the front rim.  I like the contrast, but I also can do the matching butterscotch spokes.  The basket is approximately 1″ wide, 7/16″ deep with a tall handle that adds another 1″ and 1/16 inches, for an overall height of about 1 and 1/2″.  (26mm wide and 11mm deep, with a 27mm handle for 38mm high overall)

The bowl of this basket is a really good size for display.  I think the handle is a bit too tall, so I will try another one with a shorter handle.  Now that I really look at it… it may be just perfect for a house plant, or anything with a bit of height.

Here’s a shot of the two brown gathering baskets together.  The picture came out a little bit on the pink-ish side.  This is a quick and easy basket that I really like the looks of.  I’m going to have to take a break from weaving in order to make some flower stems to place in one of these!

Okay, how much do I love my peas ‘n’ carrots???  A lot!

This is my second, smaller gathering basket done in walnut brown.  This, like the larger one, has the variegated braid trim and the double spoke handle.  Does the handle seem over-sized here?  Actually looking at the basket, it looks fine, so maybe it’s just the picture?  Maybe it’s the mini veggies that make the handle seem to big?  Hmmm…  This calls for some investigation.

This smaller version is approximately 1 and 3/8″ long, 1 and 1/16″ wide, and 1 and 1/8″ tall.  (34mm long, 27mm wide, and 29mm tall)  Again, due to the open base, this basket can safely be molded a bit to suit your taste.

I really like how this gathering basket turned out.  I wove it in the walnut brown “wicker” over a dark brown armature.  This handle has the double-side (two spoke) handle and I really like the sturdy proportion.  I tried a little something different with the braided trim edge, in that it is woven with a mottled thread that has light and dark areas… interesting or distracting? Hmmm…

This is the larger of the two similar gathering baskets that I made.  I envision this one displaying fresh cut flowers, loaves of crusty bread, or vegetables fresh from the garden or market (see the picture of the smaller one!)  This basket is approximately 1 and 5/8″ long, 1 and 3/16″ wide, and 1 and 1/8″ tall.  (41mm long, 30mm wide, and 29mm tall)  Truthfully, the base is flexible on this style so you can “pinch” it to be a bit thinner and taller or “smoosh” it to be wider and shorter.  Whatever looks best in your opinion.

This walnut brown basket with handle is larger than other handled baskets I have made.  I wanted to be able to display market items in it, like the gourds shown here.  I think it would also show off a picnic lunch rather nicely.

It is 1 and 3/8″ wide, with 1/2″ tall sides. The handle adds another 1″ to the overall height.  (35mm wide, with a height of 13mm sides plus a 24mm handle)  So, in a 1″ scale scene, it would represent a 15″ wide basket with 6″ sides, and would be 18″ inches tall including the handle.  A good sized market basket!

I think that next time I will add a double-wide handle, as this one seems a bit delicate for the size of the base.

This is a walnut brown round basket with a handle. The basket is about 1 1/8″ wide and 5/8″ tall. The handle is an additional 3/4″ tall, so overall it’s about 1 3/8″ tall. (23 mm wide by 16 mm deep, with a 20mm tall handle)

This is a very versatile basket that can be used for food, sewing notions, or any gift basket assortment. I think it would look terrific with a bow on the handle!

I think this is a nice basic basket and I was pleased with it overall. The handle is a little tricky for me still and I continue to practice, practice, practice!

This small, round fruit basket was woven in natural wicker. It is 3/4″ wide and 7/16″ high. The handle is 1/2″ tall, making the basket about 1″ tall overall. (20mm wide and 11mm high, plus 14mm tall handle)

As usual, the trim braid and handle gave me a bit of trouble, but I still like this little basket. I think the light color sets off the contents nicely (in this case small styrofoam balls colored to look like lemons and oranges.) I have since worked out a thinner braid to trim the small baskets, and I will try that on the next version of this basket.

I think this basket would make a sweet little Easter basket as well, and I will try it in a pastel color someday… The list of baskets I want to make grows longer!
